Firefighters from the Centerport Fire Department were called out on a windy Christmas morning 2017 for reports of a tree down across Route 25A near Lone Oak Drive at about 11:05 a.m. The large tree snapped off and struck electrical lines, causing a power outage in the area. Firefighters used chainsaws to cut up the tree and removed it off the roadway.

Centerport Deputy Chief Dr. Jack Geffken assisted clearing the tree with the use of his compact bucket loader. Two Centerport fire engines and crews were dispatched and under the direction of Assistant Chiefs Rich Miltner and Andy Heglund.
