The Centerport Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on Fort Salonga Road and Stony Hollow Road on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at about 12 pm. The driver was operating a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta that veered off the road and struck a tree. Centerport firefighters and EMS crews arrived and initiated resuscitation efforts on the patient that continued en route to Huntington Hospital. Unfortunately, the 60-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital. Under the direction of First Assistant Chief Richard Miltner, an ambulance, engine, heavy rescue truck and paramedic unit were dispatched to the scene. Suffolk County and Northport Village Police were also on the scene.
